REMINDER: Queen Creek Sewer Construction Will Restrict Traffic in San Tan Valley for Three Months

qc-trafficstv

Beginning Feb. 17, there will be lane restrictions and shoulder closures in the area of Combs Road and Gantzel for the installation of a new sewer line. The project is being completed in four phases that will occur simultaneously to mitigate the effect on area traffic and to complete construction in the shortest possible amount of time.

The project is anticipated to take approximately three months to complete, however the restrictions with the most impact are being expedited.

To help reduce the inconveniences of traffic restrictions associated with infrastructure improvements, instead of working through the Combs and Gantzel intersection, the project will bore under it. This phase of the project, along with the restrictions on Combs from ALA to AutoZone, will also be expedited, lasting approximately 30 days.

An additional effort to help reduce the impact to motorists includes limiting the Gantzel lane restrictions at Pecan Creek Drive to off peak hours (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.). These restrictions will occur later in the project and will also be expedited, lasting approximately 3 weeks.

All four phases will maintain one lane of travel in each direction. In addition to the lane restrictions and shoulder closures detailed below, there will be left turn restrictions in select areas:

  • no left turns from Combs to Gantzel;
  • left turns from Combs onto Encanterra Drive;
  • left turns from the Fry's plaza onto Combs will be limited to the western driveway
  • left turns from Combs into the Fry's plaza will also be limited to the western driveway.

No turning restrictions are planned at Painted Desert Drive, Pecan Creek Drive and Kenworthy Road. Left turns from Encanterra Drive onto Combs will not be restricted.

Please allow extra time for travel during construction, be extra courteous and use alternate routes, when possible.

NOTE: Please note these changes are NOT road widening or road improvement changes. These changes are being done by the Town of Queen Creek to install a sewer line into the current Johnson Utilities CC & N where they plan to then reclean Encanterra's affluent water, per a wastewater agreement between the Town and Shea, allowing the town to then use that water, in perpetuity, wherever they would like.  You can read the full agreement here.
